Animal Rescue News

Annie is one lucky pooch.  She survived being hit by a car and also found her owner.  Her owner had moved to Cannelton and left Annie in the care of family members.  Annie had other ideas and set out on her own to find her owner.  After being rescued in the pouring rain by Hancock Co Animal Shelter with the help of the Dewitts, she recovered from her near death accident on warm blankets and good food.  Several days later we received the call from one of Ginny's worried friends that she was looking for a dog that fit her description.  We reunited Annie with a very happy owner, Ginny White.

HC Animal Shelter also has another lucky boy who needs help.  His name is Big Mac.  He is an eighty-four pound black lab male.  He is a giant with a gentle loving soul.  He was taken in during the ice storm and looked after by a caring family hoping his owners would come looking for him.  As time went on, his family didn't show and the temporary family couldn't keep him any longer.  We feel that this gentle giant deserves another chance.  He has heartworms and this is where he needs help.  His treatment will cost around $300 for the heartworm treatment and $150 for neuter.  We started collecting donations at the fair but still need a huge amount to help Big Mac.  As soon as Big Mac is treated, neutered and HW free, he will be up for adoption or become DogTales newest member at the Public Library. If anyone would like to contribute to Big Mac's heartworm treatments please send them to Hancock Co Animal Shelter c/o Lisa McCormick  515 Park Rd Hawesville Ky 42348  If you are interested in adopting Big Mac or need further information please email hancockcountyanimalshelter@yahoo.com or call 922-6092

Click on picture to enlargeBingo- 3-4 year old neutered male Dalmatian/lab mix.  He was found on Goering Road off Hwy 69.  This big boy should be named "Teddy Bear" or "Lover Boy" WHAT a big love he is.  He has been hit by a car or kicked by maybe a cow or horse.  He has no fractures but he does have some nerve damage which hinders his gait.  We are confident his recuperation will heal his leg but until then he gets around on three legs fine.  He is HW negative and has had his shots. He is being fostered at the home he wandered up to.  He likes other dogs and doesn't seem to like cats.  We know he has been on his own for some time now due to his weakened state but he is losing no time at gaining weight!  When he is fully recovered he will make some lucky family a great pet.  We would like to find his owners but if we can't find them, then he will need to find a new home.  Can you open your heart to this special boy?  If you have any information where Bingo belongs please contact us at Hancock Co Animal Rescue

Adopting a friend.......

Adopting a dog is an easy procedure which starts with the adoption application.  After filling out the application a Hancock County Animal Rescue representative will review your information and get in touch with you.  We will fit the dog to your family.  A short home visit and reference check is all there is to it.  Appointments are necessary until we have a public animal shelter.  Hancock County Animal Rescue has the right to refuse adoption for any reason.
